Deutz-Fahr 0 – ECU: Data Valid but Above Normal Working Area
Fehlerbeschreibung
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) is receiving a signal from a sensor that is within its electrical specifications (not shorted or open), but the measured value exceeds the pre-defined upper limit for safe or normal operation. This is a standardized SAE J1939 Failure Mode Identifier (FMI 0) message indicating an abnormal condition in the monitored parameter. It is not a standalone fault code and must be accompanied by a Suspect Parameter Number (SPN) to identify the specific component. This fault may trigger a warning lamp and cause the engine to enter a derated limp mode to prevent damage.
Ursache prüfen
Identify the accompanying Suspect Parameter Number (SPN) on the display to determine the specific system at fault
If SPN 110 (Coolant Temperature): Visually inspect the cooling system for leaks, low coolant levels, and airflow obstructions over the radiator
If SPN 110 (Coolant Temperature): Check the condition and tension of the fan belt, verify cooling fan engagement, test the thermostat, and inspect the radiator for blockages
If SPN 190 (Engine Speed): Interview the operator about fault conditions, check for external fuel sources or flammable vapors in the air intake, and inspect the turbocharger for oil leaks
If SPN 190 (Engine Speed): Check the engine speed and position sensors for signs of damage or tampering
If SPN 157 (Fuel Rail Pressure): Verify the correct ECM calibration is installed and inspect the fuel pressure relief valve and drain line for blockages
If SPN 157 (Fuel Rail Pressure): Check for intermittent electrical issues in the fuel pump actuator circuit and test the fuel pressure sensor

Identify SPN
Determine the accompanying SPN on the tractor display to identify the affected system, as FMI 0 cannot be diagnosed or repaired alone.
Repair cooling system (If SPN 110)
Repair any leaks and refill coolant to the proper level. Replace a faulty thermostat, fan belt, or fan clutch. Clean or replace a clogged radiator. If the issue persists, test and replace the coolant temperature sensor.
Address engine overspeed (If SPN 190)
Eliminate any external fuel sources entering the intake. Repair or replace a turbocharger if it is leaking oil into the intake. Replace engine speed sensors if they are found to be faulty.
Repair fuel rail system (If SPN 157)
Update the ECM calibration if a newer version is available. Clean or replace a restricted fuel pressure relief valve or its drain line. Repair wiring in the fuel pump actuator circuit, and replace a faulty fuel pressure sensor or leaking fuel injectors.
