Iveco 1.4 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Bosch EDC: LIGHT CONSTANT Accelerator pedal
Fehlerbeschreibung
The engine control module is receiving an implausible, missing, or out-of-range signal from the accelerator pedal position sensor (potentiometer), causing the vehicle to enter limp mode with a severe lack of throttle response.

Verify the Blink Code: With the ignition off, press the diagnostic button (or ground the diagnostic wire) for at least 2 seconds to activate the EDC warning light flashes and confirm code 1.4.
Check the 5V Reference Circuit: Verify that the pedal connector is receiving a steady 5V. A short circuit in another sensor sharing this 5V reference (like a MAP or phase sensor) can pull the voltage down, causing the ECU to lose the pedal signal.
Inspect Connectors for Moisture: Check the electrical connector at the pedal and the EDC ECU for water infiltration, moisture, or housing seal degradation, which is a leading cause of signal failure.
Check for Electrical Oscillation: Ensure the battery voltage is stable. Unreliable jump-starting or faulty alternators can cause electrical spikes that disrupt the pedal signal.
Reparaturschritte
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes during the repair.
Access the Pedal
Locate the accelerator pedal assembly in the driver's footwell.
Disconnect Wiring
Unplug the electrical harness connector (typically a 5-pin or 6-pin plug) from the pedal position sensor.
Clean and Inspect
If moisture or corrosion is present in the plug, clean it thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease. Reconnect and test before proceeding to replacement.
Remove the Assembly
If the sensor is deemed faulty, unbolt the accelerator pedal assembly from its floor or firewall mounting points. (On most Iveco models, the sensor is integrated into the pedal assembly and replaced as a single unit).
Install the New Part
Mount the new OEM accelerator pedal assembly and secure the bolts.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical harness back into the new sensor and reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes and Test
Turn on the ignition, clear the EDC fault codes using a diagnostic tool (or via the battery disconnect reset), and test drive the vehicle to ensure full throttle response is restored.
