Iveco 1.7 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) - IVECO EDC MS6.2 (SW 5.X) and EDC7: OFF The plausibility of the ratio between the accelerator and brake pedals

Fehlerbeschreibung

The Engine Control Unit detects an implausible or conflicting signal between the accelerator pedal position sensor and the brake pedal switch. This commonly means the ECU is seeing both pedals being pressed simultaneously for an extended period, or the accelerator pedal signal is not returning to 0% (idle) when the brake pedal is applied.

Ursache prüfen

  1. Monitor live data for both the accelerator pedal position and the brake pedal switch using a diagnostic tool.

  2. Inspect the accelerator pedal for physical binding, debris underneath the pedal, or a broken return spring that might prevent it from fully returning to the idle position.

  3. Verify that the brake lights operate correctly to test the brake switch (a stuck or misadjusted switch will constantly send a braking signal to the EDC).

  4. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the pedals and the EDC bulkhead. Specifically check the Bulkhead 'E' connector (Pin 4 for the brake pedal switch signal and Pin 9 for the accelerator load sensor) for corrosion, shorts to ground, or loose pins.

Reparaturschritte

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal before working on the electrical sensors.

  2. Address the Brake Switch (If Faulty)

If diagnostics show the brake switch is stuck active, locate the switch above the brake pedal arm. Disconnect the 4-pin wiring harness, twist the switch counterclockwise to remove it, and install a new switch. Ensure it is properly adjusted so the plunger fully depresses when the pedal is released.

  3. Address the Accelerator Pedal (If Faulty)

If the accelerator pedal sensor is failing to return to 0% or has a dead spot: Disconnect the electrical connector at the base of the accelerator pedal assembly. Remove the mounting bolts securing the pedal assembly to the floor/bulkhead. Install the new electronic accelerator pedal assembly and torque the bolts to OEM spec. Reconnect the electrical harness.

  4. Relearn / Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on (do not start the engine) and allow the EDC to initialize. Connect your diagnostic scanner, clear the stored 1.7 fault code, and verify that the pedal sweeps smoothly from 0-100% in the live data without triggering the brake circuit.

  5. Test Drive

Road test the vehicle to ensure the EDC warning light remains off and normal throttle response is restored.
