Kubota E-5 – IntelliPanel (Dashboard display) and Transmission/Main ECU: Shuttle sensor (sub) trouble
Fehlerbeschreibung
Malfunction, signal loss, or misalignment involving the secondary (sub) sensor that monitors the position of the forward/neutral/reverse shuttle lever. When this sensor fails or sends erratic signals, the tractor's control unit cannot verify the intended direction of travel, which often results in the tractor refusing to move forward, defaulting to reverse, or kicking into neutral as a safety precaution.

Ursache prüfen
Check the shuttle lever and the neutral safety switch for physical damage or mechanical misalignment, as a misaligned gear lever can cause incorrect sensor readings.
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the shuttle sensor (located near the gear selector/steering column) for loose connections, corrosion, or broken wires.
Using a multimeter, test the shuttle sensor wiring harness to ensure it is receiving the correct reference voltage (typically 5 volts) from the ECU.
If equipped, enter diagnostic mode (like TST-1 on M-series tractors) to observe live voltage readings for the main and sub shuttle sensors (often labeled T12 and T13). Watch for dead spots or erratic voltage drops while moving the shuttle lever through Forward, Neutral, and Reverse.

Preparation
Park the tractor on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery.
Locate the Sensor
Remove the steering column cowlings or dash panels as necessary to access the shuttle lever assembly and the attached shuttle sensors.
Remove the Faulty Sensor
Disconnect the electrical connector from the sub shuttle sensor. Unbolt/unscrew the sensor from the shuttle lever bracket.
Install the New Sensor
Mount the replacement OEM shuttle sensor, ensuring it is properly aligned with the lever's mechanical sweep.
Reassembly
Reconnect the wiring harness and reinstall any removed dash panels. Reconnect the battery.
Clear the Error Codes
Turn the tractor's ignition key to the "On" position without starting the engine. If using a diagnostic tool, follow the prompts to clear the E-5 code. Turn the ignition off, wait a brief moment for the modules to reset, and then restart the engine.
Test Drive
Shift the tractor through Forward, Neutral, and Reverse to confirm the transmission engages properly and the code does not return.
