U0086

Kubota U0086 – Engine ECU: CAN ETC5 (Neutral SW) frame error / CAN_ETC5 communication stopping

Fehlerbeschreibung

This code indicates an interruption or timeout in the CAN bus communication between the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and the ETC5 module, which monitors the Neutral Switch (Neutral SW). The ECU detects that the CAN_ETC5 communication has stopped while the battery voltage is normal and the starter switch signal is not activated.

Ursache prüfen

  1. Perform a key cycle by turning the ignition key to the 'OFF' position to attempt a transient recovery from the error

  2. Verify that the battery voltage is normal, as low voltage can cause CAN frame dropouts

  3. Inspect the main fuse panel for any blown fuses related to the safety switches or ECU

  4. Locate the neutral switch (usually under the tractor near the HST pedal linkage or gear/range selector) and ensure the pedal is returning completely to the center (neutral) position

  5. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the neutral switch for chafing, corrosion, or disconnected plugs, and check the CAN bus lines for continuity between the switch and the ECU

Reparaturschritte

  1. Lubricate Linkages

If the machine has an HST (Hydrostatic Transmission) pedal, grease the zerk fittings on the pedal linkage. A sticking pedal will fail to depress the neutral switch, causing communication and starting issues.

  2. Adjust the Switch

If the pedal returns to center but the switch isn't engaging, adjust the neutral switch linkage or cable. There is usually a spring-tensioned cable connected to the shifter that can be adjusted to ensure the switch is fully depressed when in neutral.

  3. Test the Switch

Disconnect the neutral switch harness. Use a multimeter to test for continuity across the switch terminals when the switch is manually depressed. If the switch is dead or highly intermittent, it must be replaced.

  4. Replace the Switch

Unbolt the neutral switch (and its mounting stay/bracket if damaged), install the new OEM switch, and plug in the harness.

  5. Clear the Code

Turn the key to the "ON" position. If you have a Kubota diagnostic tool (Diagmaster), use it to clear the DTC. Alternatively, some models allow clearing by holding down the DPF INHIBIT and Parked Regeneration switches while turning the key to "ON", then navigating the LCD test mode to clear the code.
